What is ‘Minds On Media’?

Imagine a room full of teachers who are experts in multimedia creation and social media. What could you learn from them?

Join Peter Skillen as he hosts the second year of this fabulous new ECOO event - a half-day BYOL (Bring Your Own Laptop) workshop with a variety of learning centres focusing on working/playing with media – both multimedia and social media.

What Will You Learn?
That is up to you! Visit one of the centres or visit them all! You can be an absolute beginner, or a 'techie' wanting to bump your skills up a notch! You choose your ‘entry point’. Who are Our Support Staff?
Pedagogistas are built in as part of the carefully planned support system. This arises from the tradition in Reggio Emilia schools. Pedagogistas, in this case, are teachers that focus on implementing the constructivist philosophy and advocate for respecting the learners competence and 'desire to know'. We will strive to support you in your learning throughout the day.· Don Adams· Cresencia Fong· Andrew Forgrave· Garfield Gini-Newman· Melinda Kolk· Brenda Sherry

Learning/Teaching Style

Each centre will provide for all types of learners by providing all modalities possible. For example, the presenter will have on hand any number of small demos, self-guided tutorials/activities, be able to work one on one with the learner's needs and desires, be comfortable with the ebb and flow of people from centre to centre or manage the same individuals all day.

Expectations of Facilitators
- some online meetings ahead of time to plan the day together - all our expertise is desired and welcomed to create this event
- review or learning of constructivist approaches
- huge flexibility in accommodating learners as they may come and go from your centre
- creation of materials in advance to accommodate a variety of learning styles
